ABOUT BETSY:

Elizabeth “Betsy” Martin, graduated from UNC School of Law in 2002.  Following two clerkships on the Court of Appeals, Betsy joined the law firm of Hatch, Little & Bunn, LLP.  There, she practiced civil litigation, family law and appellate law, as well as taking a hiatus from the courtroom to assist in-house with Progress Energy.  Following the birth of her oldest child in 2007, Betsy took a break from the practice of law to be a stay-at-home mother.  In 2009, Betsy joined the Kochanek Law Group and practiced law part-time while also raising her two boys.  With the Kochanek Law Group, Betsy offered counsel to small businesses and non-profits, assisted with legislative work, and developed a wills and trusts practice.  Betsy continues her legal counseling work for individuals and small business owners and her practice of simple wills and trusts with Betsy Martin Law, PLLC, established in 2014.

In 2020, the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys awarded Betsy the Gwyneth B. Davis Public Service Award in recognition of her manner of living generously and method of practicing law for the benefit of our community.  You can learn more about Betsy here under interests.
